TN: MATSYA-6000 Undergoes Successful Unmanned Trials At Kattupalli (opens in a new tab)
The unmanned trials of India’s MATSYA-6000 submersible were successfully conducted at Kattupalli, evaluating flotation, stability, ballast systems, and subcomponents as per test protocols. Developed by NIOT under the Samudrayaan Project, the 6,000-meter-rated human submersible features indigenous systems for deep-sea exploration, including navigation, communication, and life-support equipment. Officials also reviewed the repair of the research vessel *Sagar Manjusha*, which supports oceanographic surveys with specialized labs and instruments like a sub-bottom profiler and CTD device. Both vessels are part of India’s deep-sea and marine research infrastructure.
