HII marks ROMULUS USV production milestone (opens in a new tab)
HII, a major U.S. military shipbuilder, celebrated a production milestone for the ROMULUS unmanned surface vessels (USVs) by attaching a commemorative plaque to the lead vessel, ROMULUS 151. The event highlighted progress under the U.S. Navy’s Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) program, with HII recently awarded a contract to build 10 vessels. ROMULUS USVs are AI-enabled, modular platforms designed for missions like surveillance, mine countermeasures, and strike operations. Louisiana officials and Navy leaders emphasized the program’s role in advancing maritime technology and distributed naval capabilities.
